Self Defense Safety Tips

People rarely like the idea of having to fight for their life. However in the world we live in today people need to prepare themselves for the possibility of getting attacked. You will feel much better knowing what do if the horrible event of being attacked does happen. It’s important to not only have an idea of what to do, but to drill the moves repeatedly and mentally drill them as well. Don’t discount visualization methods, going over the actions in your mind can be very beneficial. Martial Arts in Columbia MD and all over Howard County self defense classes have started to boom. These Maryland self defense classes are growing in popularity because of the crime rate in America. Self defense classes for women in Columbia are a great idea for these schools that host the classes. Women should always want to learn how to defend themselves. Columbia Maryland MMA or Mixed Martial Arts classes are a great way to get self defense training. Here are 3 self defense tips from the stand up position.

Tip #1:  Assess the situation. If someone is being attacked they need to assess the situation first. Assessing the situation makes the rest of the decisions easier. They would assess the situation by trying their hardest to remain calm allowing their brain enough time to think.

Tip #2:  Pay attention to surroundings. Don’t take your eyes off of your attacker but use your peripheral vision to scan the area. Look for opportunities to get away, people to get help, a path to flee, or any other things that may help.  

Tip #3:  Take advantage of every opportunity. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of any and every opportunity that presents itself. An opportunity can be in the form of some bystanders walking around the corner, running from the attacker, or even some background noise.
