What to Do During the Pregnancy Nausea Weeks

Nausea is a condition that many pregnant mothers have to deal with during pregnancy. There is no consensus on the cause of pregnancy nausea. But many attribute it to the hormonal changes going on within the pregnant woman as well as sensitivity to odors. Pregnancy nausea starts usually around the 4th week and ends around the 12th week of pregnancy. It is a distressing moment for pregnant women. Here are some things to do during these pregnancy nausea weeks that can help control it.
Avoid foods that can trigger nausea. Pregnant mothers develop a sensitivity to particular smells this includes food. If a certain food makes you want to throw up, avoid it and substitute with another one. make sure that the substitute is high in protein and carbohydrates.
Drink a lot of fluids during the day. Nausea and vomiting cause a lot of dehydration. So taking up a lot of fluids is necessary. If possible, try some fruit juice which will also add to the nutrients you need.
Eat food in small quantities regularly. Eating large chunks of food is believed to cause nausea. This is because the stomach applies pressure on the womb when it is full. The body reacts to this by vomiting.
Eat a meal before you go to bed and one right before you get out of bed. The meals should be rich in complex carbohydrates and proteins. These take a long time to digest allowing for blood sugar levels to remain balanced.
