One in five women between the ages of 18 and 24 are smokers, and most say they keep lighting up for fear of gaining weight. But researchers at Temple University have found that when it comes to quitting, a little bit of dialogue and support can be more effective than an exercise plan in helping women not only keep off the weight, but also stay smoke-free.

Study Offers Closer Look At 'Broken Heart Syndrome'

“Broken heart syndrome” is still a mystery to many in the medical community, but new data from researchers at The Miriam Hospital may shed some light on the clinical characteristics and outcomes of this relatively rare, life-threatening condition. Researchers created a registry of 70 patients with the syndrome, known medically as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, who were diagnosed between July 2004 and April 2008.

The Senate on Thursday night scheduled a confirmation vote for Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ (D) nomination to be HHS secretary for April 28 after Republicans threatened to delay the nomination, CQ Today reports. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) earlier Thursday had sought unanimous consent to schedule a floor vote, but Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) objected to the move.
